Production Diary: Day 9

Editing – 12th April 2016

Today I wanted to mess around with effects and make my impressionist shots look more interesting. I thought I would play around with the smashing of the glass bottle. I watched it over and believe that there wasn’t much going on so I mirrored the shot. I also copied the clip again and then reversed it. To me this symbolises regret. However, I want the audience to interpret it how they desire.  Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 8

Filming – 9th April 2016

Today I filmed the flashback scenes and the death aftermath for the story line of an abusive relationship. I wanted the flashbacks to appear on the beach as this is a place where most people have happy memories. The couple hugged and spun each other along the waterfront with the waves in the background. I did several shots of the same action but played around with zooming in and zooming out. At the time I thought the idea failed and just carried on with keeping the camera still. However, Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 7

Editing – 22nd March 2016

Today I put most of my clips onto my timeline. I made the clips cut to the beat as best as possible. I tried to make sure that there was enough footage to last the whole duration of the song and that it was evenly distributed throughout. The bridge in the song is very fast paced and I thought it would be a good idea to have many clips inter-cutting with each other to replicate the beat. I did this by using the splicing tool to cut up my clips into several pieces. I made sure each clip had the same amount of cuts. I then placed one cut of each clip onto the time line. However, I made sure that the clips were on alternate lines as shown below. Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 6

Filming – 17th March 2016

It was Megan and Callum’s turn to be filmed. This couple are in an abusive relationship so arguments needed to be made. Firstly, I got them to stand in front of the camera and asked them to argue. This was pretty difficult, however once they got into the moment the shots were fantastic, they looked very realistic. They then pretended to hit each other, and pushing one another to the ground. Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 5

Editing – 17th March 2016

After filming Gemma’s story line I did some impressionist shots, I downloaded all of the clips onto the computer. I renamed all the clips so they are easily identifiable when I am editing them in Premier Pro.

I first edited all the clips selecting the best shots. Then I added a black and white filter to all of them. After doing this, I put all of the shots that I had of Gemma onto my timeline and placed them into a sequence. This makes it easier for me to put together the end product and clarifies the order of the clips. These inter-cut with the other stories. Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 2

Editing – 14th March 2016

This was the first time I edited my music video. I downloaded all the clips I had filmed the previous day at the abandoned forts and added them to Premier Pro. I went through each one and cut them choosing the best footage, there were several good shots. Putting footage into chronological order it made more sense and was ready to combine with the other stories. Next, I added a black and white filter to every clip in the time line together with slow motion. Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 3

Filming – 15th march 2016

Today I filmed some impressionist shots for my music video and also a few shots of Evelyn at an inside location.

The first shot I did consisted of putting paint onto a canvas and filming the paint slowly drip downwards. I first used black poster paint and it worked really well. However, I wanted to add another colour in to see what it looked like. So, I added in green it gave a very interesting look. I think when this is in back and white it will look very unusual and will make my video look unique . Continue reading

Production Diary: Day 4

Filming – 16th March 2016

Today was my second day filming. Gemma was my main focus of filming today and I wanted to get most of her shots filmed. I managed to successfully film all of the parts in which she was in, so I will only have to meet up with her one more day so I can record the outside locations. Continue reading

Production Dairy: Day 1

Filming – 13th March 2016

Today was the first day of producing my music video. I decided to film at an outside location because I only needed a couple shots,as they will not feature hugely in my film. I chose the abandoned Harwich forts to film first. As the weather has been good recently the ground wouldn’t be muddy. This is the location in which Evelyn runs away to as she can no longer handle her mum. The shots filmed here will appear nearer the end of the music video. I dressed Evelyn in warm clothing, however it was mix and match colours to indicate these were the only clothes she had. A sleeping bag was wrapped around her to clearly exhibit her homeless status. Continue reading
